The One Who Made Canada will Make Canada Great.
O Canada! Our father’s land of old
Thy brow is crowned with leaves of red and gold.
Beneath the shade of the Holy Cross
Thy children own their birth
No stains thy glorious annals gloss
Since Valour shield thy hearth.
Almighty God! On thee we call
Defend our rights, forefend this nation’s thrall,
Defend our rights, forefend this nation’s thrall.
This verse, written originally in French by Sir Adolph-Basile Routhier, and later translated by Dr. Thomas Bedford Richardson is the seed thought of our national anthem “O Canada!” by Judge R. Stanley Weir.
If our nation is going to be great, it won’t be one man, even as Prime Minister that will make it great. A nation must be made great by the actions of its people. We know from the truth of God’s Word that the nation of Israel was a great nation at times during its history, and at other times it was destitute and downtrodden. It is more than interesting that its periods of greatness coincide with the times when it was in closest fellowship with God and obedience to His Laws.Every great nation on the face of this earth has become great for the same reasons.
(Deu 4:7-8)For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
Contrast those things with nations that tolerate evil, tyranny, and self-reliance. Those nations lose power as they move away from God. They crumble from within when they make laws that contradict God’s perfect laws of righteousness.
The greatest nation is that nation which subjects itself to the greatest power.
(Psalm 144:15) Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
