Mothers Day 2016
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon
the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
This is the only one of the Ten Commandments that appears nine times; the others are only repeated 3 or 4 times at the most. Nine is the number of fruitful-ness, indicating that this is the only commandment with a positive fruitful promise…
Honour thy father
and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
Of course every positive promise has a negative attached to it… Proverbs 20:20 says, “Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.”
Considering the consequences. honouring Mom and Dad is definitely something you want to do! God says further, “The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick
it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.” (Prov 30:17) So I want to show you a few things that you can do to Honour your mother and preserve your health!
Honouring mothers and dads is a lot more than just buying them a card and gift, and taking them out to dinner on their day. God expects more than that when He says to honour your parents. In Solomon’s discourse on the subject in Proverbs 23:22 – 25 he states. Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not
thy mother when she is old. Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.
The first day of last month was April Fool’s Day so don’t be a fool by dishonouring Mom!
