The Limits of Humanity
Who could have imagined even fifty years ago the things that are possible today? It SEEMS that the advances that we are capable of are limitless. If you listened to the motivational gurus one would think that with the proper environment and support there would be no limit to what humans can do. However, there are physical limits that we must realize that we cannot go beyond.
I am reminded of a picture I have of a penguin walking across a glacier. The caption reads “Until you spread your wings you never know how far you can walk” In case you didn’t get that, a penguin has limits. It has wings but it can’t fly. Of course, humans are a lot more advanced than penguins… except we can’t grow feathers that would keep us alive in Polar seas and we can’t swim fast enough or stay underwater long enough to catch any kind of fish.
We need to realize that as humans our potential has many limits. One of those limits is being good enough to get to heaven. Jesus said in Mark 10:25, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
26)And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?
27)And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”
Another limit is being able to please God without faith.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Heb 11:6)
We also see from these same scriptures that there is nothing impossible with God to those who place their faith in Him, because God is the Creator and Sustainer of this world and the next. He uses our obedience and faithfulness in ways we will never see or understand until we get to Glory. When we yield ourselves to the Lord Jesus Christ, He uses us to do things that we may never even realize.
(Phil 4:13)I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
