Worship, Walk, Work, and Witness

(Acts 1:6)When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

7)And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

8)But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

9)And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

It wasn’t long after the resurrection of Jesus Christ that His disciples asked Him if He was going to set up His kingdom.

Isn’t that just like people today? They wanted to go right to the top rung of the ladder without any sweat or toil. They wanted to lead without learning how to follow. They wanted position without learning how to use the power that Jesus Christ was going to give them. I think they fully expected Jesus Christ to return on His white horse as they gazed up into heaven where He had just disappeared.

They received power just as Jesus Christ had promised, but it wasn’t the power to wield the sword. It was the power of the Holy Ghost to enable them to worship Him, to walk in righteousness, to work the works of Jesus Christ and to witness for Him. The Holy Ghost gave them the power to do all of these things.

The same God, The Holy Spirit still indwells believers today and empowers us to worship, to walk in righteousness, to work the works of Jesus Christ, and to witness of the wonderful sin-cleansing power of the Blood of Jesus Christ!

Jesus died to bring salvation,

For the rich and for the poor,

Men of every tribe and nation,

That includes the man next door.
