December 2011 Pastor's Pen
Well, it’s December and the busiest of months has started with all of the preparations to have a Merry Christmas.
Have you ever had one of those holidays that was so miserable that you just wanted it to get over so that the misery would end? If not, then praise the Lord. If you have then you know how stressful it can be.
I hope by this little article to help you avoid having a miserable Christmas and have a Merry Christmas instead.
I don’t know if this has happened during one of your holidays or not but can you imagine how you would feel if everything that could go wrong during your celebration did?
You had a list of the gifts that you would like to get for your family and friends, checked all the prices at all the stores to find the best bargains and when you went to buy them everyone else got those bargains before you got there, so you had to spend much more than you had planned. When some of your gifts were opened they were ignored or you never were thanked for them. Why would anyone be so inconsiderate of your feelings?
You got out your Christmas decorations and found that the mice had made nests in them. You set up your tree and it kept falling over and broke all your favourite ornaments.
You planned a wonderful Christmas dinner for a specific time and invited your family and friends. You worked hard at having everything prepared on time, but for one reason or another everyone was late. The Turkey was dried out or the Ham was overdone. The potatoes were cold and the gravy was scummy. The vegetables were cold and the rolls were hard. No one finished their meal that you had worked so hard all day to prepare.
There is a way to prevent have the above scene at your house for Christmas. You see a miserable Christmas is filled with YOJ! To avoid a miserable Christmas and have a merry Christ-mas we must turn YOJ around and make it spell JOY.
Put Jesus Christ FIRST and others second and put yourself last and you’ll have a JOYous merry Christmas!
