Do you believe that EVERY WORD of God is important?
Every word of God is pure:
he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
But he answered and said,
It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Usually we don’t think about every word being important when we read words like “Selah”. Usually, we don’t even stop to think about what this word and other obscure words mean, much less think that they are really important.
Take a little time this week to read through Psalm 3 and notice the location of the word “Selah”.
The first time you see the word, is after the first two verses of David’s complaint. BUT after David paused and meditated on God he wrote verse three!
The next time “Selah” appears is after David again cries out to the Lord in verse four, and then see what David did in verse five!
The last time “Selah” appears is at the end of this Psalm. Any other placement of this word in Psalm Three would render the entire Psalm useless.
This is the first three times the word “Selah” appears in this context, and every time but one it means “to pause” or “to rest”. The only other time “Selah” is mentioned in the Bible it is a rock or a fortress.
Could it be that David under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost wrote the word in specific places in the Psalms to be a rock and a fortress for our hearts and minds?
Remember, we are to live by every word.
