How Do You Love God?
Last Tuesday, May 31st, Brenda and I had our 37thwedding anniversary. I met her in Springfield, Missouri, I was in my second year at Bible College and it was her first year. I think that’s the best thing I found there. Let me tell you how I learned that I loved her.
I’d get up early and get all cleaned up and ready just so I could see her before our first class at 7:00 A.M. I had never done that before even for myself. I loved to hear her talk and I loved to talk to her. We would go to Mr.Quick hamburger shop on our date night. Between classes we would go to the campus snack shop.
I loved to be where she was. She got her first job at Arthur Treacher’s Fish and chips. So on Friday when I got paid and she had to work I would go there and have fish and chips or fried chicken with her on her breaks. Later she got a job at the hospital…so did I.
We went to the same church and served God on the same Sunday school bus route. Finally, I decided that there was no way I wanted to spend the rest of my life with anyone else, so I popped the question! We were having dinner with our bus captain and his wife. Unfortunately they are separated and divorced. Really it had nothing to do with fortune. What caused their love to fail? They slipped into selfishness and sin because they didn’t work to keep their love alive.
Do you really love God? Do you constantly show up where He is? Do you desire to be near Him and hear Him and speak to Him? Do you spend as much time with Him as you can? Have you made the decision that you want to be with Him forever?
And let us consider one another
to provoke unto love and to good works:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,
as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another:
and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
